Steps to Prep
The Steps to Prep is an extended transition program, which seeks to help new students settle into our school. In one three hour session per week, in a dedicated classroom, and with the support of carefully trained staff, the students are involved in engaging activities that are similar to kinder but introduce them to the environment of school. This program gives us the opportunity to get to know new students and their families really well before we place them into a Foundation classroom in the following year. This ensures that their individual needs are met and that we can put in place supports when it is needed. Families can have many opportunities to interact with the school, ask questions, attend education information sessions and begin the very important partnership with the school.
Talk and Play Bags
To build our home-school links, we have developed Talk and Play bags. These are special resource bags based on a theme that include books, games, toys, puzzles or activities that families can read to and play with their child. Parents are invited to attend information sessions about how to use these resources at home. The students are always very excited to begin borrowing the bags and having lots of fun at home.
